MEME: Booking Through Thursday

Do you have multiple copies of any of your books? If so, why? Absent-mindedness? You love them that much? First Editions for the shelf, but paperbacks to read? If not, why not? Not enough space? Not enough money? Too sensible to do something so foolish?

I don't have doubles of any books because I'm too sensible/cheap to do something so foolish.

I don't actually buy many books. I grew up in a house that read a lot, but we read library books. I can barely remember my parents buying any books. We had some books as kids, but mainly lots of trips to the library. So it is a very new thing for me to buy books, but thanks to amazon.ca and second hand book stores and the terrible influence of a whole bunch of internet people - I'm looking at you!- I've been buying more books. I probably have 20 books I've bought but haven't read yet. When I read that people have hundreds of books they bought but haven't read, it blows my mind. I'd probably use pbs, but they don't deal with Canada yet.

The closest I have to two books is two versions of Dr Seuss's ABC book - the regular and a smaller board book version for the car.

  1. Let's not go into the thousand or so books I own but haven't read yet then. LOL My family was big on using the library too. I think more during the lean years (which was after my parents had us kids). I was surrounded by books--mostly my dad's growing up. I didn't really start getting in trouble with the TBR books until I started getting involved with online book groups and later blogs.

I admire your sensibility and restraint! Rub against me a little, please?

  2. A TBR pile of only 20 . . . if I try really hard, I can almost imagine that!

  3. I just don't buy many books - I have a list on our library site that has nearly 100 books on it of what I want to read. Plus, I work at a high school, so I have a library I can go to everyday. I just physically don't have a pile - it's all mental!
