BLOGGING: It's Tuesday, Where Are You?
Tomorrow I'll post the results of the latest Bookword Game, so it's your last chance to come by and vote. I'll also throw another situation out there, looking for a new Bookword.
In reading, I am in Cuba, 1957, and there are gangsters, and casinos, and circuses, and it's a crazy, hard-boiled mystery that very much reminds me of Hammett and Chandler. (Dancing to Almendra by Mayra Montero)
Where is reading taking you today? Leave a comment, write a post, spread the word.
I'm in Edinburgh with Rebus - see here.

I'm in the harbor at Santiago, Cuba. The ship I'm on appears to be an old rustbucket on it's last sea legs. In reality it's a disguised technologial marvel that houses a team of mercenaries who 'do good things for profit'. Right now they're getting ready to break some prisoners out of a Cuban prison.
ReplyDeleteThe prologue of this book was about the Dalai Lama escaping into exile and taking along a priceless artifact - I'm not sure yet how these two stories will connect, but I'm sure it'll be a fun adventure.
Golden Buddha by Clive Cussler and Craig Dirgo

ReplyDeleteYou are there. I am here, in Ireland.
ReplyDeleteInteresting, there's 2 books set here this week set in Cuba. The only thing I remember reading set in Cuba was The Old Man and the Sea.

I am in Norway near to the Swedish border. It is the late 1990s but I am reminiscing about a particular summer just after the end of WWII. (Out Stealing Horses by Per Petterson).
ReplyDeleteI am also in Victorian England. I have just returned home after an extending period in Italy and have just met my former love. Always awkward (Silent in the Sanctuary by Deanna Raybourn).
In something quite unusual for me I am also rereading something - another book set in Victorian England. This time I am a wallflower who has just married a known rake to try to get away from the grasp of my horrible family. (Devil in Winter by Lisa Kleypas)
I'm back in Middlemarch. Mr. Raffles is trying to blackmail poor old Mr. Bulstrode.
