In Cold Blood Capote's masterpiece of murder in the midwest
Devil in the White City Larson ties up a serial killer and the Chicago World Fair
Istanbul Pamuk's memoir of a city and his life
I've never read In Cold Blood. I think I'm scared to since I grew up in the middle of nowhere on a farm!
ReplyDeleteI'll probably read Istanbul for the Nobel Project--at some point!
Oh, "In Cold Blood" was incredible. I really wasn't expecting to like it as well as I did. I'm glad I read that one too.
ReplyDeleteI've been wanting to read "In Cold Blood" as well. Th eonly one on your list that I've read is Hockey Dreams.
ReplyDelete(Love the jpeg you picked for this post!)
I'm hoping that Joy hosts the nonfiction challenge again!! I missed it the first time.
ReplyDelete3M - it is really creepy, but so well written. The movie Capote covers most of the book.
ReplyDeletekookie - yeah, it kind of snuck up on me. I dont' know what I was expecting.
john - Rock on! Party now!
samantha - yes! Joy is a great one to host challenges.
I read In Cold Blood when it first came out, and was pretty scared. :<) Just saw the dvd this year and loved it. I actually wrote a blog entry on it, and if you are interested :<), here is the address:

My husband has read Longitude and loved it, Devil in the White City and liked it, and his junior high class reads Night each year. I'm a big nonfiction fan, and think I will follow your example and divide my "bests" up into two lists this year. Thanks for the idea.
