Today will be a tough day, as our March Break ran into the Easter Break, so it has been awhile since I've been at work. But I enjoyed the break and got lots of reading and visiting done, not much correcting or exercising though. I've been all over the place reading. I just left the north of Canada and the cold, to go to North Carolina and visit with that southern lady, Miss Julia. Quite a change in climate. I'll bet lots of people are in unsual worlds and fantasical places, as the Once Upon a Time challenge gets going.
Where is reading taking you today?
I've taken a brief trip out of Hawaii to the ancient past of China. Michener's Hawaii is a huge saga!
ReplyDeleteI am in Enhland during the reign of Queen Victoria in a villiage called Mortlak with Rosamund and Blanche (Rose Red and Snow White)> I hope to start a journey to the Perilous Realm later with Tolkien.
ReplyDeleteI'm in Boston in the early 80's. Boston Doctor's Hospital to be specific. Trying to figure out what exactly Michael Palmer's Sisterhood is and what are they doing???
ReplyDeleteI am currently switching between England and the American colonies (Boston) as well as between 1666 and 1713. Quicksilver is an interesting read, if you do not mind the jumping.
ReplyDeleteI'm in England and Belgium, mostly Belgium. It's WWI and there's not enough morphine for all the wounded. Bombs are occasionally falling in town; we're just two miles from the front line. There's a crater outside the "hospital" door -- but the hospital is merely a large hut surrounded by smaller huts. I'm reading Life Class by Pat Barker. :)
ReplyDeleteI've just started a new one that has me in Ireland, often on Tara Road, and often in a restaurant called Quentins! :) (Yes, it's time for a Maueve Binchy book again.)
ReplyDeleteI'm also in the midst of a YA book that will soon have me jumping from reality to reality. Now that could be interesting. (The 13th Reality by James Dashner)
I'm in the south end of London, England with Mo Hayder and a particularly gruesome mystery/thriller.
ReplyDeletechris - You've been reading htat a few weeks now. Michener is huge.
ReplyDeleterhinoa - I remember that fairy tale from when I was young- Snow White and Rose Red. Sounds good.
suziq - Boston Doctor's Hospital in the 1980s sounds like St Elsewhere.
kucki68 - jumping sounds good, like The Outlander
bookfool - WWI books are not as familiar to me. I feel like I read a few WW2 more recently.
ReplyDeletesuey - I love Maeve Bincy! Tara Road, Quentins, that whole series.
nicola - mystery thriller sounds good. I thought you were going to say you were reading Neverwhere, which I loved.
I'm in Rome, Italy as I read Elizabeth Gilbert's Eat, Pray, Love. I want pasta for dinner!
ReplyDeleteles - I want to go and visit Italy again; I should try that book. (It makes it sound like I need a book to read or something)
ReplyDeleteIt is Tuesday, isn't it? For some reason I've thought it was Monday today. Hmmm...I just lost a day.
ReplyDeleteI'm in Yellowknife, Northwest Territories running around in mining tunnels under the city.
Also, in Philadelphia with Mary DiNunzio trying to help 'the mean girls' after one of their mob-connected boyfriends is murder.
booklogged - Easter Monday messed me up too; enjoy your trip to Yellowknife, try some fishing.
ReplyDeleteOh! I'm jealous. I've never been to Italy. Someday...
ReplyDeleteI'm in New York with Ann Patchett as she takes care of her friend Lucy Grealey after Lucy's latest recoconstructive facial surgery. "Truth and Beauty" by Ann Patchett.
