CHALLENGE: Series Goals or The Ones I'm Targeting in 2012

Suziqoregon at Whimpulsive is a great blogger and she is always reminding me how much I like series by posting about her serial reading.  Now she is setting her goals for next year, and I am shamelessly copying her and her picture above. Thanks Suzi q!

I've got a few series I'd like to get up to date on, and a few I'd like to make a dent in their list.

Inspector Armand Gamauche by Louise Penny
The most recent release was in September, and I'd like to get up to date before the next one comes out.
A Trick of the Light
A Beautiful Mystery (August 2012) read in November

The Number One Ladies Detective Agency by Alexander McCall Smith
I made a good effort this year, and it should be no trouble to finish up the last three books in this series. And now I see another will be released!
Tea Time for the Traditionally Built
The Double Comfort Safari Club review

The Saturday Big Tent Wedding Party
The Limpopo Academy of Private Detection ( April 2012)

Darko Dawson/ Inspector Montalbano/ Detective Erlendur
I'm up to date on my three favorite series, but if they release books, as I expect them to, I'm reading them!
Murder at Cape Three Points (Darko Dawson) by Kwei Quartey (2012) *never got released
The Age of Doubt (Inspector Montalbano) by Andrea Camilleri  (May 2012) read in July
Black Skies (Inspector Erlundur) by Arnaldur Indridason (July 2012)

The Dublin Murder Squad by Tana French
Faithful Place March 2012

Broken Harbour (June 2012)

The Spellman Files by Lisa Lutz
Revenge of the Spellmans
The Spellmans Strike Again
The Trial of the Spellmans (2012?)

Inspector Espinosa by Luis Alfredo Garcia-Roza
Only one of these that I have left to read may be available at my library.
Pursuit
Blackout

Vish Puri by Tarquin Hall
I really liked the first book in this ongoing series, so let's stay on top of this one!

The Case of the Man Who Died Laughing  March 2012

The Case of the Deadly Butter Chicken ( August 2012)

This next set of series will not get caught up, but I hope to make an effort in reading several in each.

Maisie Dobbs by Jacqueline Winspear
Pardonable Lies
Messenger of Truth
An Incomplete Revenge
Among the Mad
The Mapping of Love and Death

Phrynne Fisher by Kerry Greenwood
There's no way I'll get caught up, but I'd like to read another four or five from this quick moving series
Blood And Circuses  May 11
Ruddy Gore  May 26

Urn Burial
Raisins and Almonds
Death before wicket
Murder in Montparnasse
there's still another six!

Harry Hole by Jo Nesbo
Nemesis
The Devil's Star
The Redeemer
The Snowman
The Leopard

Martin Beck Crime series by Per Wahloo and Maj Sjowall

Wow, I'm ashamed to admit that I've not read any of these series, though I keep meaning to pick up the Ladies Detective Agency books.

Nothing to be ashamed about - you don't read a lot of mysteries, and there are soo many series on the go. I don't read any paranormal series.
that said, you might like Ladies Detective agency. The Botswana setting is done very well, and they are like meditating while you read, very relaxing.
And coconut balls? awesome!
Glad you enjoyed :) And yes, everyone keeps telling me to read them!
Fun!! I'm glad you shared your series goals for next year!! This past year was the first year I did that. I didn't post about it ahead of time but it worked well so I decided to make it more public for 2012.

Several of your series are very familiar to me.
I caught up with the Inspector Armand Gamache series this year and I'm on the last CD of the audio of A Trick of the Light. It gets better and better with each book!

I'm also current with the Ladies Detective Agency series. I enjoy that one for driving around listening. It's good errand and commuting entertainment.

Oh the Spellman Files - I'd like to start that one (maybe this year?)

and so on and so on - we definitely have similar reading tastes and I'm afraid your post may end up adding some new series to my list. eeks!!

Oh, yeah, you are very enabling of me. I know we do tend to like the same books, which is why I didn't look very close at your list of books. But, maybe once I get a bit caught up, I'll have room for some new series....

Spellman Files are hilarious! and very fast to read. I highly recommend.
I think there is a new Ladies Detective coming out. I thought that series was finished. I haven't tried any of his other series, except one Sunday Philosophy Club many years ago.
I'm going to use this post as my list to cross off, even though I have a whole blog where I keep track of this stuff.
Oh the joy of series! It's an addiction and a neverending pursuit of completeism. I have a whole blog just for lists of my series! And for all that, I haven't read any of the series you mention! except Harry Hole, which I just need to read the first two they published in English.

I loved the first and only Harry Hole I read, so I know I really want to read more of him. There are so many series!

neverending pursuit of completeism I know!! Sometimes I'm so pleased to find a finite series, or an author who has already died, just to be able to complete a series.
I have WAY too many series on the go... I wouldn't even know where to begin if I were to make a list... Good luck on yours!

I love making lists, so it's no big deal. thanks!
Wow. I'm in awe of both you and SuzieQ for keeping track of your series! I think that is a worthy challenge for someone who reads as many mystery series as i do, what do you think? I have to go check out her reading list too.

I see you have the Spellmans listed, so I now I have an idea of what they are! lol

Just about every series you listed I am reading too! I"m so far behind the Phryne fisher series, and I want to read them in order, since I know her life and family changes and grows over time.

You have read Phil Rickman's Merrily Watkins series, haven't you? as the never ending pursuit of completism continues, I thought I would throw one on the pile :-D lol since I have you to thank for the Martin Beck series that I am now starting from the beginning (I read the Laughing Policeman and really enjoyed it based on your review of it or another book in the series....)

Some of us are more comfortable keeping track - it's what we do. SuziQ has some great books she reads as well.

The Spellmans are hilarious! A family of PIs who spy on each other and can't do anything legally.
the Phryne Fisher series I started out of order, but now my library is starting to carry them, so I can read in order.

I haven't read the Merrily Watkins series. I've read Merry Watson, a kids book about a pig, but not a mystery series. I'll note it. Martin Beck series is very good, very Ed McBain-like, who I read twenty years ago.
Isn't it crazy how quickly the series reads pile up? I wanted to read "on" in twelve this past year and I did manage to move ahead in eleven (and finish a couple in there too)...but I kept adding new ones to the mix all the way along too! *sigh* I have the same idea for the coming year (12)...but I have already just started a new one (Martin Beck). Not exactly the right idea, but how does one resist?
