BLOGGING: It's Tuesday, where are you?

I hab a cold. My dose is stuffed and my ears are plubbed. Yuck. I spent the weekend on the couch with Miss Julia, enjoying a comforting book without straining my head too much. A little reading, a little nap, a little reading, blow my nose. You get the drill. Quality tissue cannot be appreciated until you blow your nose every ten minutes.
Today, I am just beginning to wonder When There will be Good News in the English countryside. I am assuming there will be a murder and Jackson Brodie will be called in to investigate, but I am not that far into it yet. (Kate Atkinson)
If I am out and about and waiting somewhere for a lunch or for a ringette practise to end, I am finding Something Wicked This Way Came, and it looks like a circus is coming to town. Perfect for the Halloween season so far. (Ray Bradbury)
Where is reading taking you today? Play along in the comments or in your journal, and post back here. And you! Over there! You, lurking there quietly. Why not play along this week? It's fun to see where everyone is, and the more that play the merrier.

Hachette is sending me the Atkinson book, so I'll be reading that also.

I'm in Sweden right now with The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.

  2. I'm in New England, coming of age with Vix and Caitlin in Summer Sisters. I've had it on my shelf for years and finally picked it up and got going on it.

  3. 3m - it's just a stuffy cold that will linger for weeks, but thanks for the kind thoughts.
Excellent on the Hachette, have you read the other books by Atkinson? I read One Good Turn.

ctoan - I'm sure I read that years ago, but it didn't leave a lasting impression. My lurking note flushed you out!

  4. I've read Case Histories and found it to be just okay, although some loved it.

I've heard this one's supposed to be really good.

I loved Something Wicked - and yes it's the perfect book for the season.

I'm in England, it's 1956 and I'm reliving the past through the memories of a very proper and slightly uptight butler. (Remains of the day by Kazuo Ishiguro)

  6. I've just entered the orbit of the mythical planet Magrethea -- and could really do to find out if there's any tea aboard this high-tech spaceship.

  11. I was in medieval England, trying to negotiate my way through the courts of King Henry II, Richard the Lionheart and King John, to fight for what is rightfully mine. The book is The Time of Singing by Elizabeth Chadwick.

I recently read the second Jackson Brodie book, One Good Turn, and really enjoyed it. I have my name down for When Will There be Good News. Hopefully it will come into the library soon.

  12. I am on an island in Chesapeake Bay in the 1940's with Sara Louise (Wheeze) Bradshaw and her twin sister Caroline and her best friend Call. Their island just experienced a hurricane and their new friend Capt Wallace lost everything. (Jacob Have I Loved by Katherine Paterson) Diane

  13. I hope you get better soon. Stuffy nose colds always drop my IQ.

Currently I have just come back to Flanders from Spain where I was invested as the Infanta to chase after my gorgeous, faithless, immature and ambitious husband. (The Last Queen by CW Gortner)

sprite - We'll be waiting for you here on Earth.

lisa - ooh, werewolves. Watch out.

chris - is that the Fitzwilliam and Elizabeth Darcys? (such a Maritime question - who are their people?:)

katrina - I didn't appreciate The Hours, maybe I needed to read Mrs Dalloway first.

  15. shannon- sounds like you are in a creepy place, great Halloween book.

marg - medieval times sound great. Maybe Robin Hood will show up too. I liked One Good Turn. Your library must get books quickly. It seems to be a few months before mine gets new releases on the shelf.

diane- I read that years ago, as a teenager. If didn't appeal to me then, but I bet I'd enjoy it more now.

carrie - thanks for the well wishes. gorgeous, faithless, immature and ambitious husband that's quite a combination of a husband!

  16. Oh no, on the lousy cold! Hope you're feeling better mighty soon!

I posted about my journeys...England, Italy, and a total mystery.

Something Wicked This Way Comes jumped onto my all-time favorites list when I read it last year.

  17. Oh, yuck, hope you feel better soon.

I'm on the couch, still finishing up my therapy session in Occasional Therapy.

And I'm in Atlanta, crying my eyes out because my mother just died in a flaming plane crash in The Swan House (which is really so much better than just that -- there's also a mystery that I must solve).

  20. Hi, hope you're feeling better. If it's any consolation, I took the day off work today because of illness as well.

Gave me a chance to go to Ireland and fight the British.
