CHALLENGE: 7th Annual Canadian Book Challenge

John Mutford at The Book Mine Set is once again (seventh time!) hosting The Canadian Book Challenge. It's easy - just read books by Canadians and about Canada. Some people read by themes (provinces, authors, kids, mysteries) but I just read the ones I want. The only rule is that reviews must be written and posted. (I don't get all mine reviewed, and then they don't count in my totals :{

John met Douglas Coupland! Holy moly that's exciting. I think I will
have to read a Coupland this challenge to commemorate this. I adored Hey Nostradamus! and Eleanor Rigby and All Families are Psychotic and Generation A. Plus, the Canadian Souvenir books, and the Terry Fox book. I want to read JPod, Microserfs, Miss Wyoming, or Girlfriend in a Coma.

Head to The Book Mine Set to get more details and to sign up.

Oh! Do you want to read Microserfs together??? I LOVED JPod and have not got around to Microserfs. I own it... Also, Girlfriend in a Coma is insanely wonderful! I love Douglas Coupland. :) I also haven't read Generation A... I own that, too... Now I want to read a bunch of Coupland. I can't remember the last time I read him. Maybe whenever I read JPod and that was ages ago!

Then there is Carol Shields. At one point I considered The Republic of Love my favourite book by her. There is also a movie. I have never seen it... At this point I haven't read her in so long that I couldn't tell you what my favourite was. (Have you read Happenstance? I liked that one because the first part of the book is told by one person and then you flip the book over and read the story from another person... Details on who the people are would require a reread. I think I read all my Shields book pre-blogging so been a while.)

Sure! It's more fun to read with someone, and have someone to discuss with. Cool. I havent' read a Coupland in a few years, but I always enjoy his books. I'm pretty sure it's Microserfs I have.

Republic of Love is my last Carol Shields to read. I loved Happenstance and the different views of events. It was a husband and wife that tell the story.
I got him to sign my copy of Miss Wyoming as it was the one I wanted to read next.

Thanks for the shout-out and I'm so happy that you're on board again!

Woudln't miss it John
Wow, John! That's wonderful! I'd be too excited. I'd babble. (This I know from bitter experience)

I can't seem to get in touch with my Canadian self lately. Maybe when I get back to the US. Sigh.
