CHALLENGE: Paris in July 2013

It's almost time for Paris in July, 2013 edition. I've enjoyed dabbling in a few books each July since Karen at Bookbath and Tamara at Thyme for Tea started it.

During the month of July, read your book, eat some food, watch a movie. Something French.

The books I hope to read include:

Murder in Montparnasse by Kerry Greenwood.
It's a female detective series that I enjoy, starring Phryne Fisher, set in 1920s Australia. I'm going with the fact that the Eiffel Tower is on the cover that there will be some connection to Paris.

Paris to Die For by Maxine Kenneth
Looks like a fun, intrigue-based spy story, chick lit style. Young Jackie Bouvier (Kennedy Onassis) is recruited by the CIA. I added it to my library list after last year's challenge  so someone must have enjoyed it.

Madame Bovary goes on my list every year, although I can't see me getting it read at all. Similarly, I've got Madame de Stael on a dailylit.com account that I still haven't finished. Maybe this July!

It's not quite the same thing, but we are planning to go to Quebec the first week of August, staying in Quebec City one night, and then a week at Sherbrooke for the Canada Games. Go PEI Basketball!  It'll be the finale to Paris in July - my very own Quebec in August!

Paris to Die For looks intriguing. I guess it was just a matter of time before someone came up with the idea to use her in a fiction book. Have fun in Quebec!

We are going home from Sherbrooke via Bangor, and looking on the map, it looked like we might travel through NH, but the road goes right into Maine. I was wondering if you are near the Quebec border? Regardless, I'll wave to you from Sherbrooke!
Maybe an hour and a half, both the Vermont and NH borders. I'll wave back!
OOoo, Quebec in August. Lovely! I'm reading Benjamin Constable's The Three Lives of Tomomi Ishikawa and having lots of fun with it. Feels delightfully summery and there is a lot of Paris in there (but also some NYC).
I've read Madam Bovary, but it was a very long time ago, and I didn't enjoy it much - I've had it down for a re-read for years and years, and never got round to it! I've been looking through my favourite old guide book of Paris, which is much more lightweight, but great fun! http://goo.gl/BjpB9
Looks like you enjoy the Paris mysteries. I'll be interested to see if you like them. I have a weekly France meme that runs throughout the year on Mondays if you ever want to join in. Here’s my Dreaming of France meme
