MEME: Booking Through Thursday

May I Introduce...

1. How did you come across your favorite author(s)? Recommended by a friend? Stumbled across at a bookstore? A book given to you as a gift?
2. Was it love at first sight? Or did the love affair evolve over a long acquaintance?
It takes a while for me to add an author to my list as a favorite. It certainly takes more than one or two books. I would say I found my favorite authors when I was younger, and have loved so many of their books that I know I won't be disappointed.
My list includes Stephen King, LM Montgomery, Maeve Binchy, Agatha Christie, Anne Perry
They just have not let me down.
The contenders to make my list include: Douglas Coupland, Sophie Kinsella, Markus
Zusak, Charlaine Harris,
I found many of these authors this year, and I have loved their books, but I need to read some more before they can make my favorite's list.
So how do I find my favorite authors? I think they are somewhat popular and they write a lot of books. I can't remember where I first heard of them.

  1. Agatha Christie was on a few lists. I really have to give her a try.

  2. I've never read Sophie Kinsella but she seems to come up in a lot of lists. I need to try her out.

  3. I admit that sometimes I can tell an author will be one of my favorites after just one book. Of course, some of them have only written one book. :-) I really enjoy Agatha Christie and Anne Perry also and would count them among my favorites. Charlaine Harris made my favorite list with her Southern Vampire series and after reading the first Lily Bard mystery, she's still in very good standing.

  4. Agatha Christie is one of my favourites too.

I forgot to mention Arthur Conan Doyle. I never get bored reading Sherlock Holmes!

  5. Ah i forgot Christie too!

The only problem i have with her is that i read a ton of her books in middle/high school. So now i pick up one thinking i don't recognize it, get about halfway through and then realize i know the end!
