BLOGGING: It's Tuesday, where are you?

I'm lost today. I just left Sicily and I don't know where to head next. My ticket might leave for a few places, including Regency England and Italy to see how Victoria is dealing with those vampires, or New York to see how Becky is getting along with her baby, or dive into The Ravine, or where ever Oryx and Crake live. Or after my trip to the library, I may see what Tuesday Next is up to.

I get this excited feeling as I finish one book and get ready to read the next: will the next book be as good as the one I just finished? might this one be my new favorite book? If I've wanted to read it for a long time, I'll feel accomplished at starting a long awaited read. How fast can I read this book? Will the book I pick accomplish more than one challenge? How can I pick from this lovely pile of books? Arggggg.

Where are you reading today?

  1. I seem to be on a travel kick recently. In The Geography of Bliss I'm leaving Switzerland to head to Bhutan. and in Eat, Pray, Love I'm about to end a sojurn in Rome. It's been lovely.

  2. I am visiting the wife of a teach in Gaza, trying to learn why her husband was arrested exactly. From the sounds of it, he was standing up for his beliefs, for what he felt was fair, and ended up being punished for it as a result.

  3. Not sure where I'll be going today - either to Pianosa to see if the Catch-22 situation has gotten any less absurd or to Minneapolis to see how new vampire Betsy Taylor is coping in Undead and Unwed.

    This makes my Tuesday! :-)

  5. kkfea74 - Geography of Bliss sounds good. I should visit Rome again, if only in a book.

wendy - I hope his the worse that happens is he is arrested. Bad things could happen in Gaza.

joanna - sounds like very different choices! Glad you are here, and having fun.

aaron - exhilarating! good word. I've never 'travelled' to Ethiopia.

  6. Brief trips to Hawaii with some missionaries. I'm so glad to be around the Horn and off that darn ship.

  7. I have joined a band of young boys walking across the Sudan (current destination: Ethiopia). Everyone is separated from their families; many have lost their family. There is so much violence all around us, and some boys have been attacked by lions. This is Dave Eggers' What is the What, and it is both excellent and absolutely harrowing.

  8. I've been following a 30-something man who found out he had a kid with his ex-wife when she passed away. The three-year-old is fairly entertaining, but I just love the insights into the dad's thoughts...it's very stream of consciousness!

As much as I'm enjoying it, I am looking forward to starting a new adventure. :-)

  9. Today I'm in nineteenth century China and have just met my "old same." My feet have been bound for about 6 months, so I'm able to move around a little bit again.

I'm reading Snow Flower and the Secret Fan by Lisa See.

  10. I just left Sarajevo (People of the Book by Geraldine Brooks) and now find myself in between books! If I had of gone to work today I would have started a new book but I didn't so I haven't.

  11. chris - Hawaii probably didn't even have to be gorgeous, everyone whose ever landed there must have been so happy after the boat ride. Sounds like a great book for 'spring' here.

laura - hey, Aaron's in Ethiopia too. Why did I think Dave Eggers was a humorous writer? Must be thinking of Dave Barry.

trish - sounds good though, modern. You seem stream of consciousness-y.

  12. somer - ooh, I want to read that book, it'll be a weather book for the waht's in a name challenge

marg - I saw that book in the library today, but passed over it. Must note the book. I love having a library at my work.

  13. Wow, you must be doing something right. You have 13 comments so far. I feel like I've dropped off the face of the earth. I'm lucky to get 1 or 2 comments anymore.

So where I'm I today? I'm still involved in the Fourth Crusade, but this time we are attacking Constantinople instead of Zara; both attacks were forbidden by the Pope. Still not ridding the Holy Land of infidels.

I'm also in India with a 16-yr-old girl who was forced to marry when she was 13. The groom died shortly afterwards. Sad state of affairs.

  14. I'm using Snow Flower... for my weather category, too. It's reminding me a lot of Amy Tan's books, as well as Memoirs of a Geisha.

  15. booklogged - it's not always 13 comments, but the 'where are you' is lots of fun.
I'm glad that groom died, so hopefully that 16 year old can grow up on her own.

  16. Oryx and Crake are haunting me from the shelf. I need to read it (love Atwood but have heard such mixed reviews of this one). I'm in cozy New England right now--was in Texas (although, I'm always in Texas).

    Have a great week!

  17. Even though it's Friday now, 'cause I'm so behind in my blog readin', I thought I'd tell you where I am today.

Today, I'm in Pennsylvania, and the world is ending. It's getting pretty scary, and I'm anxious to see if things turn out okay. (Life As We Knew It by Susan Beth Pfeffer)

  18. trish - I still haven't started Oryx and Crake, and I want to read it this month. I've never been to Texas.

suey - I've read a few reviews of that recently and it looks really, good. thanks for commenting.

  19. And I've never been to PEI. :) Although I've always wanted to go. I love love love Texas, but it doesn't have the same beauty as other places (or maybe not the same kind). We are taking a family trip up to Toronto this summer (where I grew up and still have family), and I can't wait for hubby to see how beautiful it is up there.
